    Day 7

I started this challenge seven days ago with the hope of losing 20 pounds by the end of 30 days. In one week, I have lost just 3 pounds. And while that’s a loss, I need to really step it up if I’m going to reach my goal.

I know that the work I put in this week may not manifest results for a week or two, but it’s disheartening to be so consistent and not see the kind of results I used to see. When I was in my 20s and even 30s I could lose a pound a day doing less than what I’m doing now. Instead of wallowing in excuses, I’m just going to keep pressing. Because even if my metabolism has slowed down, I can speed it up by working harding. So that’s what I’m going to do.

Weight is like money. I put it on because I allowed it to compound, like interest on my dough. While I was eating out of control and not working out for three whole months, the fat was compounding on my body. I didn’t see the results for a whole month. Actually, it wasn’t until the second month that the scale told the truth. For 30 days my weight was compounding.

By the time you see added pounds on the scale, it’s from the weeks of bad habits from the past. It catches up and compounds. By the time you try to wrangle it in, you have to work so much harder just to not gain any more weight, let alone start losing.

Last week was about not gaining. This week is about losing. So I’ll take the three pounds. And I look forward to seeing 5-7 pounds this time next week.
