It was 9:45 p.m. and I looked at my Vivofit and it read 5545 steps. I needed more than 4000 more steps to reach 10,000! It took me the whole day just to get to the 5545. I was kicking myself. “Why didn’t I park a couple of more blocks away from the studio?” “Why didn’t I work out before I went to work?!”

It was now almost 10 p.m. and I was tired and was eying settling in to watch Queen Sugar and go to sleep. But this was Day 1. There is no way I was going to fail on my first day of this 30-day challenge. So I put on my sneakers and popped in my earbuds, listened to some Beyonce, Brandy, Busta Rhymes and Lil Kim and got through 3978 steps.

I was a sweaty mess and still hadn’t hit 10,000 and it was past 10. I did some calisthenics and crossed the mark. Whew! I took my supplements, drank lots of water and fell asleep on Queen Sugar (thank you, DVR).

I’m now obsessed with making sure I get in as many steps as possible as early as possible. Maybe I’ll hit the park trail today if the weather permits.

    What I Ate:

I had oatmeal with the nut and raisin pack from Starbucks for breakfast around 11 a.m. I had soup from Le Quotidien for lunch and I had a taco salad with seitan, quinoa, corn and avocado, tomatoes and lots of greens from By Chloe for dinner.

    Results:

I lost 0.2 pounds. (I probably would have gained a pound if I didn’t get in my 10,000 steps!)

How did your first day go? Let me know on Twitter with the #30Days so I can see you!
