Robinson was still working for Major League Baseball before his death
Well after his playing and managing career ended, Robinson remained close to the sport. He worked in MLB offices under several executive titles, including senior vice president of Major League Operations from 2010 to 2011 and executive vice president for baseball development from 2012 to 2015.
In 2013, he helped develop the Selig Rule, named after former MLB commissioner Bud Selig. The rule mandated that teams interview global majority candidates for several coaching and front office positions—including manager, assistant general manager, general manager, and director of player scouting.
His last service to the game would be his role as Special Advisor to Commissioner Rob Manfred and honorary president of the American League. Both positions he filled up until served up until his death.
