    Kirk’s #GoVeggies 31-Day Challenge, Day 24: There is Only 1 Disease!

If you thought about it, you could probably name 20 or 30 diseases off the top of your head.  Everything from cancer to sickle cell anemia.  But, after reading Never Be Sick Again by Raymond Francis, I learned there is really just one disease: cellular malfunction.  Everything that we are able to detect medically and notice symptoms of (what we call disease) is the surface representation of cellular malfunction.  For instance, when we’re able to detect a breast cancer node the size of an eraser on a pencil, the original cell malfunction had already been begun 10 years ago.

Cellular malfunction is caused by toxicity and/or deficiency of the cells in our body.  Toxicity occurs when something poisonous penetrates the cell wall and causes it to malfunction, like putting a lower grade gasoline in your car.  Deficiency occurs when the cell is starved of the minerals and nutrients it needs to function properly, like your car missing parts.  In both cases your car can run, but it will run inefficiently.  Eventually something major will go wrong and off to the auto mechanic you go.  The same thing happens to your body.  Many of us are poisoning our bodies, while starving them at the same time, with negative fuel in the form of ill-advised food choices.

Francis notes six pathways to cellular toxicity and/or deficiency:  nutrition, toxins, physical, psychological, medical and genetic.  The nutrition pathway is where we are most perplexed.  Simply by eating more plant-based foods we can mitigate, reverse or stop the progression of cellular malfunction that leads to the metabolic diseases we’re so familiar with, such as cancer, heart disease and high blood pressure.  Plant-based foods, especially eating more raw food, overcomes toxicity and deficiency because the digestive enzymes are intact, which is the key to overcoming cellular malfunction.
