Walker is outspoken about his beliefs outside of basketball
Walker ruffled feathers this week when he posted a tweet blasting Independence Day. In the since-deleted tweet, Walker said he would “never celebrate July 4th” and urged his followers to “Know your History and stay woke.”
The post sparked outrage by many Americans, including Spurs fans. That type of tweet was likely not to play well in a city that officially designated itself “Military City USA” last year. Many detractors lamented the tweet as “disrespectful,” and even suggested Walker should leave the country.
Then move to another country

Well FU then, Spurs or not, go ask to be traded to the British Empire, I’m very sure the UK has a basketball ball team. I live on the Texas border with Mexico and I’m glad such country exist. Can you tell me of a country with no violent history so you can go there and be proud?

Love when a dude uses his freedoms and citizenship as a way to make millions and then trashed the country that allows him to do so. Immaturity at it’s finest.

But not everyone was offended. In fact, many supported Walker’s tweet and urged him not to delete it. It’s important to note blacks in America weren’t freed on July 4th, 1776, and remained slaves for roughly another 90 years. (See TheHub.News piece on Juneteenth)

Those who have followed Walker probably weren’t too surprised by his bold tweet. Walker has already raised eyebrows by expressing his belief in several conspiracies. Among them, Walker thinks the earth is an “illusion,” Hitler escaped Germany at the end of World War II and that humans descended from giants. Whatever you think of him, Walker is unlikely to shy away from speaking his mind.
“I wasn’t built to script,” Walker told Sports Illustrated. “People get uncomfortable. They’re so used to people telling them certain things that when someone tells them something different, they get edgy. I’m an open book. You either like me, or you don’t.”
