Walker is a big shot maker
While only a freshman at Miami, Walker was heavily relied on during clutch situations. In many cases, the 19-year-old delivered in spectacular fashion. In an overtime win over Louisville, Walker made an acrobatic layup to tie the game at the end of regulation.
Walker also broke the hearts of Virginia Tech fans twice. He scored eight points in the final 3 minutes of an impressive road win over the Hokies. In a rematch against Virginia Tech, Walker made a game-tying jumper with 55 seconds to help lift the Hurricanes past the Hokies again.
But his most impressive clutch performance may have come against Boston College late in the season. Down by two, Walker hit an NBA-style stepback three-pointer with just two seconds left to beat the Eagles.
“I knew there was a few seconds left and I knew I definitely wanted to take the last shot. That’s just how I am,” Walker told reporters after the game. “I want to be the guy to take the final shot and I believe in myself more than anyone else.”
