The Weekend Entertainment Recap: April 24th

Olympic medalist, Simone Biles will be starting out her week as a married woman now! Biles tied the knot with Jonathan Owens (a football player), and the duo took to social media to share the news over the weekend. The couple previously announced that they received their marriage license on April 14 and the ceremony followed soon after. Mr. Owens posted wedding photos with the caption, “My person, forever” while Mrs. Owens posted similar photos with the caption “I do 🤍 officially Owens 🤍.”

While the Owens solidified their union, the union of rapper Lil Scrappy and television personality Bambi is falling apart. The two have been involved in drama as their divorce plays out but things intensified when Lil Scrappy’s daughter jumped in with comments defending her mother, Erica Dixon. The comments triggered Bambi and prompted her to release a private conversation that she secretly recorded with her estranged husband over his daughter’s behavior. Although the rapper has remained fairly quiet the other women in his life (Momma Dee and Erica) have fired back at Bambi who has since apologized for leaking the conversation.

The Richardsons were not the only ones with some verbal tension this weekend. Rapper Coi Leray shared some choice words for fellow female rapper, Latto. Latto mentioned Coi Leray in her new song, “Put It On Da Floor,” which included the line “smokin’ on that gas, blunt big as Coi Leray.” Although the line seemed harmless to many,  Coi Leray did not take well to her size and body being used as a line in a song. The rapper fired back on Twitter with remarks including “Latto bye . 😴 here you go [talking] about my body. Please do not come on here and talk about nobody BODY” as well as “stay in y’all lane and leave me outta the bullsh-t.” Coi Leray has since Tweeted that she may have overreacted but stands firm on her wish for her name to be left out of other artists’ songs.

Most of the bickering and fighting was done on social media, except for the case of Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis and Ryan Garcia. The two professional boxers faced off in an anticipated fight on Saturday Night in front of a sold-out crowd of more than 20,000 people in Las Vegas. Both began the match as undefeated boxers which heighten the fierceness of the rivalry. However, by the end of the night, Davis emerged victorious after hitting Garcia with a body shot that took him down in the seventh round of their non-title catchweight fight.

Despite the feuding that took place over the weekend, celebrities and fans of the entertainer Jamie Foxx have been sending love and positivity his way after learning that he is suffering from a “medical complication” earlier this month. The daughter of Jamie Foxx first made the announcement on April 12 and acknowledged the support and prayers for her family. The award-winning actor and singer is now said to be awake and alert although he remains in the hospital. He is currently being treated at a Georgia-based medical facility.
