The Entertainment Weekend Recap: May 15th
Black Love reigned supreme for the Mackies this weekend as they celebrated 15 years together. Papoose and Remy Ma have maintained their love and stood together through obstacles, including Remy’s eight-year prison sentence. Papoose posted photos of the couple and stated “we laughed together, cried together, lost together, won together. Through it all we stayed ‘TOGETHER.’” The Mackies have been major advocates of Black love and welcomed a daughter, Reminisce MacKenzie, in 2018.
While Kendall Jenner and Bad Bunny are not 15 years in, the two have been spotted out together. The duo wore matching outfits and enjoyed the Los Angeles Lakers as they went against the Golden State Warriors in the playoffs. The model and rapper have been sparking dating rumors since February. They have been photographed on private outings in Los Angeles and Kendall was at Coachella to cheer on Bad Bunny as he performed.
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky are still going strong as they celebrate their son’s first birthday. The couple welcomed RZA Athelston Mayes into the world on May 13, 2022. ASAP Rocky took to social media with photos and videos to wish his baby boy a happy birthday. He also took a moment to shout out Wu-Tang by noting in his caption, “WU TANG IZ 4 DA CHUREN.”
Usher and E-40 are also celebrating, but it isn’t because of a birthday. Both men are now a part of the class of 2023 as they received honorary degrees this weekend. E-40 received an honorary doctorate degree from his alma mater Grambling State University in Louisiana on Friday. He was awarded the degree for his music contributions, entrepreneurial success, and community engagement. His music industry counterpart, Usher, received an honorary doctor of music degree at Berklee College of Music on Saturday for his contributions to music and philanthropy.
With many people celebrating Mother’s Day this weekend, Mary J. Blige honored the women of the world with her second annual festival. The Strength of a Woman Festival and Summit occurred in Atlanta, Georgia from May 11th -14th. Attendees could participate in female empowerment and community-building activities and enjoy comedy and musical performances. The event brought out many celebrities including Chaka Khan, Missy Elliot, Ciara, Xscape, The City Girls, Busta Rhymes, Jadakiss and plenty more.
