The Weekend Entertainment Recap: November 7th

As teased last month, fans of Drake and 21 Savage, received the duo’s joint album on Friday titled “Her Loss.” The 16-song album quickly got people talking, as it appeared that Drake was throwing out subliminals at different celebrities. Song nine on the album, “Circo Loco,” received extra attention after Megan Thee Stallion took to Twitter to say, “stop using my shooting for clout” shortly after the album was released. Drake stated, “This b—h lie ’bout gettin’ shots, but she still a stallion” which led some to speculate that he was speaking on Megan Thee Stallion’s accusations against Tory Lanez.

Other rappers including Kanye West and Ice Spice also seemed to feel like targets on the album as they both addressed it on social media. However, Serena Williams’ husband, Alexis Ohanian, did not have to guess if he was a target. Drake simply stated, “Sidebar, Serena, your husband a groupie,” in the song “Middle of the Ocean.”

While Drake and 21 Savage dropped their new album, T.I’s oldest son gave his first live performance. Messiah, also known by his stage name “Phase 4,” performed a live show over the weekend where he sang and played his guitar. Many may have expected him to follow after his father and embrace rapping, but the 22-year-old has found his niche by putting a soulful twist on the country genre.

Although it was not his first performance, all eyes were on Sean “Diddy” Combs as he celebrated his 53rd birthday! Diddy who also goes by “Love” enjoyed his birthday amongst friends, family and even Bishop T.D. Jakes. The celebrity-filled party was open to the likes of Mary J. Blige, Jay-Z, Jermaine Dupri, Chris Brown, Travis Scott and a variety of others. In addition to the gourmet chef-prepared food and extravagant “Love” cake, he was gifted a custom diamond-encrusted Cuban link chain from City Girls rapper, Yung Miami.

Diddy received his flowers this weekend and so did the 1980s female rap group, Salt-N-Pepa. The trio received the 2,738th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the category of Recording. Cheryl “Salt” James,  Sandra “Pepa” Denton and Deidra “Spinderella” Roper  are behind hits such as “Push It,” “Do You Want Me?” and “Whatta Man.” Guest speakers for the ceremony included MC Lyte and Roxanne Shante.

The weekend closed out with confirmation of a new and quite unexpected couple. Legendary singer Cher and Amber Rose’s ex-boyfriend, Alexander “AE” Edwards. The 76-year-old singer and the 36-year-old music producer sparked dating rumors after they were spotted hand-in-hand leaving a Hollywood restaurant last week. Cher used Twitter to confirm their romance and told critics, “I’m Not Defending us.”
