Sean “Diddy” Combs, who is charged with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution, has been given a trial date.
Combs’ federal case is scheduled to start on May 5, 2025.
The music mogul has been hit with several lawsuits since Nov. 17, 2023. At least nine of the lawsuits directly accuse the music mogul of sexual assault stemming from back in the 90s. He was arrested on Sept. 16. The following day, he was arraigned on sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution charges. He is being held at the Special Housing Unit at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center.
The trial is expected to last three weeks. However, prosecutor Emily Johnson confirmed that additional charges or defendants could be added to the case, potentially extending the anticipated trial length.
“Our investigation is very much ongoing,” Johnson said.
Combs is awaiting trial in federal custody at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center. He has applied for bail twice and has been rejected twice. His attorneys recently filed a third appeal which is being reviewed by a three-person panel.
Earlier this week, Combs accused federal agents and prosecutors of unlawfully leaking the hotel security footage of him viciously attacking his then-girlfriend Casandra Ventura at a Los Angeles hotel in 2016.
In response to the court filing, prosecutors wrote a letter denying the allegation.
“The Government was not in possession of the video before its publication by CNN. Indeed, at the time of CNN’s publication, the Government did not possess any video of the March 2016 incident,” prosecutors wrote.
Combs will next appear in court on December 18.
