The French Futboll Federation is investigating the country’s top soccer club after it admitted racially profiling young players.
Paris St.-Germain says some scouts used secret illegal tactics to evaluate players during recruitment between 2013 and 2018. The admission came after European investigative media outlet Mediapart published documents detailing scouting reports that included an “origin” section.
According to the report, PSG scouts identified players as “African, Caribbean, French and Maghreb.” It was allegedly an effort to limit the number of black players coming through the club’s ranks.
Scouts of PSG used this questionnaire and categorized young players by their origin. They had four options: French/North African/Black African/West Indian#FootballLeaks @EICnetwork
