Religion Has Become a Cross Too Difficult to Bear

Religion is kinda destroying the world, I don’t know…

It’s pretty impossible to not know that Israel is doing its best to eradicate what is left of the Palestinian people. This statement is without firsthand knowledge but I’m pretty sure there are only so many times you can fake the death of children and well, it not actually be fake.

There is something about a being who had so much life, being held up lifeless, and all in the name of religion. I don’t know, but if your god sanctions the murder of children, then maybe it’s time to evaluate what kind of god you serve, but here we are, all God’s children, spinning on a ball of water and dirt, so fast that we don’t even know we are moving. However, we do know we have nowhere else in the universe to really go, and we don’t really agree on how we got here, so we have all created religions to support our beliefs of how we did get here and will fight to the afterlife about it.

It is not surprising that the United States supports the apartheid state of Israel. I mean, this entire country’s legacy is built on stealing the land of an indigenous people, but there is a more sinister plot at hand.

Evangelical Christians are supporting Israel because they think that it is a part of the End of Days prophecy. You heard that right. Christians are supporting the apartheid ethno-state of Israel because they believe that the people who do not believe in their messiah are part of the plan to bring him back. Well, the lord does work in mysterious ways, I tell you that much. Also, this is where it is necessary to reiterate that thousands of children have died as a result of this, but most of them have been Palestinian so I guess this is where God closes his eyes and sees that Christians are made in his image…  But for sh*ts and giggles, let’s just say the End of Days does, in fact, occur after Israel finally decides to use atomic weapons, triggering World War III and creating a genocide like no one has ever genocided before by killing us all, what makes someone think that sanctioning the death of children means that they will make it into heaven after all of this goes down.

Right back here on American soil, those same logic-hating Evangelicals are permeating the government with a powerful, united, almost fascist-like approach. Stripping power from American citizens while consolidating that power into a few Republican bloody hands has been making life a bit unbearable here on U.S. soil. From the overturning of necessary medical procedures to the eradication of learning history that does not involve Moses and his bush, to stripping members of the LGBTQIA community of their rights, to the undercurrent of racism that has been very much a part of southern Evangelical worship via maintaining white divine rule, for quite some time, it is clear Evangelical Christians are kind of ruining America for everyone but them. This was solidified with the confirmation of the new speaker of the house, Mike Johnson, you know, the one who uses his teenage son as a porn accountability partner, the one with literal hate groups rejoicing that he won?

    That Mike Johnson?

To say there are not Muslim countries that don’t experience warfare at the hands of their leaders and that they don’t have access to weapons that can also kill many people at once is intellectually dishonest, including similar indictments with Judaism and Christianity on marginalized people with the religion. Many conflicts with Muslim countries have arisen for a variety of reasons, and therefore back the claim that organized religion is kinda destroying the world. It is also unfair not to point out that many of these conflicts were initiated by Western Christian civilizations, whether in theory or practice (don’t worry, Israel, how could I forget about you?). However, it is also important to note that organized religion has been the source of so much violence, globally and historically, whether that is the Catholics fighting with the Protestants in Ireland, the Crusades, the Suni vs the Shia, abortion clinics, violence against marginalized groups, colonization and imperialism or anything of the like.

One could argue that if Hamas, a Palestinian defense group, is, in fact, harboring refugees, starting World War III won’t bring any of them back. But alas, it is not about being right; it is about being far-right, and no amount of dead children is going to stop that.
