Marcus Samuelsson Brings Hip Hop-Inspired Cuisine to Atlanta With New Restaurant

Award-winning chef and restaurateur Marcus Samuelsson is expanding his restaurant empire with a new location in Atlanta. The Marcus Bar and Grille is set to open in March in the city’s Old Fourth Ward, serving a menu that combines Samuelsson’s signature dishes with southern-style classics, like barbecue and fresh oysters. The restaurant will also feature a private dining room that is fashioned after a hip-hop recording studio, which will be decorated with vintage albums and art.

This marks Samuelsson’s first foray into the Atlanta food scene, which he describes as a “world-class metropolis of Black culture.” The restaurant will be led by former Adele’s Atlanta chef Hannah Young, who will oversee the kitchen and its live-fire cooking and hearth oven.

Samuelsson is a celebrated chef with a long list of accolades, including eight James Beard Foundation awards and multiple appearances on popular cooking shows like Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown. He is the founder of a growing restaurant group that includes locations in Harlem, Sweden, Norway, and Las Vegas.

With the opening of the Marcus Bar and Grille, Atlanta diners will have the chance to experience Samuelsson’s eclectic culinary style and passion for bringing people together through food. The restaurant promises to be a vibrant addition to the city’s already flourishing dining scene, and an exciting new destination for foodies and fans of the chef alike.
