Five Things To Know About Raven-Symoné!

Child star turned award-winning actress Raven-Symoné has appeared on stage and in movies for more than two decades. The actress was born on December 10, 1985, in Atlanta, Georgia.

Here are five things to know about Raven-Symoné Pearman!

    1. An Actress Since The Age Of Two. Raven-Symoné has maintained a long-lasting career in the entertainment industry. The actress got her start at just two years old by starring in a Ritz Crackers commercial. However, she is most known for her role as Olivia Kendall on The Cosby Show. She received the role after being turned down for a part in the movie Ghost Dad, which starred Bill Cosby. He was impressed by her acting and created the role of Olivia to suit Raven.
    1. Multi-talented Artist. Not only can Raven-Symoné act, but she is also a music artist. She became the youngest MCA Recording artist when she signed with the label at the age of 5. Raven was even trained by rap icon, Missy Elliot, who penned the song “That’s What Little Girls Are Made Of,” just for her!
    1. Success With Disney Channel. The hit series, That’s So Raven, became Disney Channel’s first original series to reach 100 episodes. She starred in the show from 2003-2007 and was able to land roles shortly after ending the series. Raven also starred in the hit movie franchise, “The Cheetah Girls,” and lent her voice to the character of Monique in the animated series Kim Possible.
    1. Briefly Retired From Acting. Despite finding success as an actress, Raven decided to go on a hiatus in 2013. The actress announced that she would be semi-retiring from acting to pursue a college degree in the arts. She attended the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and completed her degree. Her break from the industry was short-lived because she took a position as one of the hosts for The View, a daytime talk show, in 2015.
    1. An LGBTQ+ Advocate. Over the years, the actress has tried to avoid putting labels on her sexual orientation. She describes herself as a human who loves other humans and has been vocal about her support for the LGBTQ+ community. In June 2020, Raven announced her marriage to her longtime partner, Miranda Maday. The couple got married in a private ceremony, and guests like Debbie Allen were in attendance.

Although the famed actress has stirred some controversy during her career, she is still widely accepted and admired for her talents. Pearman is one child star who left her mark on the industry and continues to find success.
