During Obama’s presidency, a staggering number of voters, estimated to be between 6.7 million and 9.2 million, made a significant political shift by switching over to the Republican party.
A 2018 study published by three political scientists from around the country who took a statistical look at a large sample of Obama-Trump switchers found that voters who turned away from Obama were shown to score highly on measures of racial hostility and xenophobia.
