True crime lovers, this is for you! VH1 network has two true crime shows and each is narrated by familiar faces. Remy Ma is the voice heard narrating “My True Crime Story,” while Monica serves as the host of “Celebrity True Crime Story.”

First to premiere was “Infamy: When Fame Turns Deadly” in June of 2021. Monica, who is no stranger to fame, hosts the series which chronicles the true stories of slain celebrities, athletes and entertainers. The first season began with the story of Former NBA star Lorenzen Wright who was found shot in the woods of Memphis. Viewers are also able to learn the stories of Tiffany Jackson-Pugh, Iana Kasian, Young Greatness, Samirah Frasch, Shawntray Grant, Laura Ackerson and John Fuzzy Atkins.

Season two of the series premiered in March 2023 and included two more episodes than the previous season as well as a new name – “Celebrity True Crime Story.” The series launched with the murder of Jam Master Jay and included additional cases centered on Rocky Reyes, Christy Martin, Cash Money Vamp, Lamar Canady, Michael Dippolito, Abraham Shakespeare, Egypt Covington, Melissa James and Mac Phipps.

“My True Crime Story” followed closely behind its predecessor with a debut in August 2021 and the first season consisted of eight episodes. The docuseries recounts the stories of everyday people who became entangled in various forms of criminal activity. The individuals decided to take the bold step of sharing their story with the world in an effort to advise others not to follow in their path. The show kicked off with the story of Shawana King, who turned her boyfriend’s small-time credit card hustle into a multi-million dollar scheme. King and her boyfriend connected with sources who were able to help them elevate their scamming game and begin making millions from reselling scammed electronics. Like most schemes, hers came crashing down after law enforcement began surveilling the duo and King soon found herself behind bars.

In addition to Shawana King, viewers are also able to hear from Candice Martinez, Vincent Serrano, Jamila Davis, Garrain Jones, Jodi Mattinson, Victor Lupis and Briana Rios. No one story is the same as the crimes range in nature from drug running and robberies to intricate real estate schemes and illegal gambling rings. Despite the crimes being committed, each person telling their story was sure to emphasize that the money made from their crimes was not worth the consequences that followed.

This rang true for the individuals featured on the second season of the show which began airing in August 2022. Season two included stories from Aethena Striplin, Lacola Nickens, Aron Gadson, Melissa Sclafani, Dartanyon Williams, Coss Marte, Steven Dominguez and Matthew Cox. Crimes in season two ranged from crooked correctional officers and drug dealing to identity theft and master forgery.

Interested viewers are able to watch both series with a cable subscription that includes VH1 as well as the Paramount+ app.
