On Thursday night, August 8 2024, Yung Miami, the host of her eponymous show, “Caresha, Please” found herself in a new position in her studio: in the interviewee’s seat. The normally bubbly and jovial host and rapper was in rare form on the season two opening episode of her podcast.
Her best friend Saucy Santana, also known for his over-the-top personality, stepped into the role of interviewer, in what was marketed as a hard-hitting break in Caresha’s silence, and if fans were really looking for that, they were surely going to be disappointed.
The “Caresha, Please,” interview was never going to be anything more than a fluff piece, designed to make her money, and serve as an indication of her finally making a statement, while still not saying anything, but when your best friend is the interviewer, on your television show, on the network that your ex-boyfriend started (and though since has sold, who is to say that he does not still have personal relationships with any of the employees), this is not the type of interview or interviewing process that should be taken seriously.
Caresha’s best assest is her personality; she brims over with an aura that screams “It Girl,” before she technically even made “It.” She is naturally funny, even in her more acerbic and unpolished moments, it is not hard to figure out why people like her. However, in this interview, she was much more subdued, and was even brought to tears many times throughout the unusually short broadcast (most of her shows last season were about twice as long). Fortunately, at the end of the tearful interview, where she did not reveal much, she was still able to exuberantly plug her “Resha Roulette,” drinking game found on her website that needs intense proofreading. She was even able to play a couple of rounds with Santana, who also cried during the interview, so much, in fact, that he did not have time to wipe many of them away.
Which brings me to another point, how unbiased and inquisitive is your best friend going to really be in an interview, especially when they probably already know the answers? How shocked are you going to be at the questions presented on your own platform?
During the interview, Caresha answered questions about her relationship with former boyfriend and collaborator Sean “Diddy” Combs and her former friend and bandmate JT. When quizzed about her relationship with JT, her responses were surface. She stated that the former duo live two different lives, in cities on different sides of the country, and used that distance as justification for the split on a personal level, because as we know, people are incapable of having long distance friendships, especially in today’s technologically advance world. At the beginning of the program, Saucy Santana dubbed the interview, “Caresha Speaks,” but it seems that when it comes to JT, she did not have much to say. Earlier in the broadcast, Saucy brought up the elephant in the room, her relationship with Combs, and while she cried when speaking about it, it seemed that most of her hurt was in regard to how people treated her after the news of Diddy’s dealings broke.
Love is complicated, so while Caresha never spoke ill of Combs, she also never spoke ill of what he was said and seen to have done. She spoke on how they both seemed to elevate each other’s lives. Her romantic status with the mogul, who is 22 years her senior and who conceived a child with another woman while being together “real bad,” with her, is no longer a thing, (though a secret Instagram account alleged to be hers showed that the couple may have been still hugged up as recently as April). Caresha spoke about how she was a survivor of domestic violence and would never allow herself to be in that situation again, and did not witness any violent behavior from Combs, but again, never condemned it, or brought up being accused of facilitating his sexual assaults.
Caresha is extremely likable, but that does not mean that she is a good person, (not saying she is not), that just means that she will have an easier comeback. Advertising a drinking game that asks sexually explicit questions, at the end of your show where you talk about your alleged former boyfriend, who is accused of being excessively abusive (including sexual assault and using drugs and alcohol to commit his crimes), shows an absolute lack of self-awareness, but what she lacks in media training, she makes up in personality. However, it is clear, her dealings with Diddy have worn on her, even if just in the aftermath of everything imploding.

Caresha did not admit to any wrongdoing or have any accountability in any situation with Diddy or with JT, and maybe she is completely innocent in both situations, but she surely did not say either of them harmed her, when she had the best platform to do that very thing. Caresha spoke of feeling like she could no longer participate in internet fun because people would always remind her of her interactions with Diddy, but never referenced any of his victims, or validated why people would feel that way.
To advertise this as her finally speaking on her relationship with Diddy and JT is deserving not only of a side-eye but a forceful, CARESHA, PLEASE!
