“The Hill We Climb” poet Amanda Gorman has just released her new children’s book titled “Change Sings: A Children’s Anthem.”
Gorman’s new book, illustrated by Loren Long, has been described as a “lyrical picture book.”
Long is also responsible for the illustrations featured in former President Barack Obama’s “Of Thee I Sing: A Letter to My Daughters.”
“I can hear change humming
In its loudest, proudest song.
I don’t fear change coming,
And so I sing along.”
The book centers on a young girl and her friends as they embark on a musical journey where they discover that they have the ability to make changes in the world, their communities and themselves.
“I wrote this book because I believe every child has the ability to make a difference and that they are the leaders of the future,” Gorman says in a press release. “I hope readers will enjoy Change Sings and remember that all of us have the power to change the world.”
The book release is Gorman’s second huge announcement this month.
The acclaimed author, poet and model recently announced a three-year-long partnership with Estée Lauder.
Gorman, who made history when she became the first inaugural poet in U.S. history, now has the title of Global Changemaker and Curator of the new “WRITING CHANGE” literacy initiative by Estée Lauder.
Gorman announced the news on her Instagram page.
“I am so proud to announce my partnership with one of the most iconic beauty brands in the world, @esteelauder to bring a new voice to beauty as their first-ever Global Changemaker!,” she writes.
