Stevie Wonder chokes up as he shares the last conversation he had with Aretha Franklin just before her death. According Wonder, who spoke on CBS This Morning with Gayle King, he had spoken to Franklin two months ago about doing new music.

Franklin covered one of Wonder’s songs, “Until You Come Back to Me (That’s What I’m Gonna Do),” which was released in 1967, but it wasn’t until Franklin recorded the song in 1973 that it sold a million copies and was a No. 1 hit, reaching that position on Billboard’s R&B chart and No. 3 on the Hot 100 chart in 1974.

“When she sings your song, she takes it and you don’t get it back,” said Wonder.

Franklin, who will be laid to rest on August 31st in her Detroit hometown following a two-day memorial, did the same thing to Otis Redding’s “Respect,” which became an anthem after Franklin recorded it.

Janet Jackson, currently on a world tour, took a moment to remember the icon. Smokey Robinson and Gladys Knight joined Don Lemon on CNN to celebrate The Queen of Soul the night of her death.:
