    It’s That Time of Year

It’s that time of year again! The summer is over and the hustle and bustle of the fall season has begun. But, the hustle and bustle is what makes it the most dangerous time of year. Now that the vacations are over, the kids are back in school and work projects are kicking into high gear, how do you squeeze in time to get in tip-top physical form?

Between Labor Day and Thanksgiving, if you’re like most people, you need a little extra inspiration and motivation to keep your fitness routine on track. I usually prefer some type of challenge to keep my clients and myself engaged. Or some type of upcoming sporting event to keep everyone focused on peaking at the right time. That said, I always schedule to run a 5-mile race on Thanksgiving Day.

I also have some century (100 miles) cycling events pending with my cycling club. Lastly, I usually sign up to play indoor tennis throughout the fall and winter seasons. Aside from my regular workout routine, committing to those activities gives me something to look forward to. They keep my competitive juices flowing and, most of all, they’re enjoyable.

Danger lurks around the corner when you don’t commit to any fall fitness activities.

Thanksgiving comes, followed by all the holiday parties leading into the new year. Gluttony and libations tend to spike, the weight piles on, lethargy kicks in and for many the excuses begin. The only hope for most people is to wait until the new year to get reignited, but it’s so difficult because you’ve lost so much momentum during the fall.

To circumvent the danger, simply get your fall activities lined up today.  Commit to whatever fits into your schedule and make no excuses.

If you start right now, you’ll have your best fall season ever and the holiday season will be much more enjoyable.
