Quick and Easy in the Kitchen #WellnessWednesdays

Over the last two months, I’ve discovered an easy way to introduce my clients to plant-based eating. In our society, we want everything quickly, with as little labor as possible. Cooking is considered a chore, so we outsource it to fast food establishments, processed food producers, Uber Eats or whatever entity keeps us on the couch while someone else sweats in the kitchen.

Of course, that philosophy induces abject laziness and flies in the face of supreme health. You must put some skin in the game—through time, effort and discipline—if you really want to be healthy and happy.

To counter that philosophy and dive into plant-based eating, I’ve decided to give the people what they want through my online Fit Beyond 40 coaching program: quick, easy recipes, that are tasty and not cooking intensive. Obviously, the key to eating healthier is to prepare your own food. Therefore, you must always have fresh food within arm’s reach to prepare, along with the necessary equipment to prepare it.  That said, if you invest in a blender and/or food processor, you can create some amazing recipes.

For instance, I’m specializing in preparing sauces and marinades that can be made within 10 minutes. They can be put on salads, steamed veggies, roasted veggies, sauteed veggies or used as dips for a veggie platter. Each week I do a live presentation on how to do it, which everyone loves. This is especially true of the older generations that have metabolic issues and greatly desire fresh and tasty food to heal themselves.  One easy recipe is a pecan orange sauce.  All you need are oranges, pecans and apple cider vinegar.  Toss them into a blender and you have an unbelievable fruity vinaigrette for your veggies.   The combinations of what can be prepared are infinite, just using fresh produce.

The only other thing you need is to always have prepared veggies in your fridge that you can warm up quickly, like steamed or grilled veggies, baked potatoes, etcetera.  That makes the warmup process easy. Once you get into the habit of doing the above, you can literally prepare your own food before it can be delivered from Domino’s Pizza.
