Kofi Debuted with WWE in 2007
Kingston signed a developmental contract with the WWE in 2006 and would make his debut the following year. Billed as a joyful, high-flyer from Jamaica, Kingston immediately wowed fans with his acrobatic feats. Kingston’s fake Jamaican backstory would later be scrapped to embrace his true African roots.
Kofi has been a fan favorite for much of his career, racking up several mid-card singles titles. But before Kingston’s big Wrestlemania win, he was probably most known for his incredible athletic displays during WWE’s Royal Rumble matches. Some of the unorthodox ways he’s averted elimination from the match have included bouncing on a chair, leaping from the crowd and even doing a handstand.
