President Donald Trump is facing renewed backlash after posting a racist video targeting former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama on his Truth Social platform.
The post sparked sharp criticism and became a focal point of discussion on The Karen Hunter Show, where host Karen Hunter and guest host Roderick Morrow addressed both the video and public frustration with the Obamas’ response to years of attacks.
“Anytime somebody says something about somebody, usually inside the insult is them telling on themselves,” Hunter begins. She added that racist accusations and conspiracies pushed by Trump and his allies amount to “dirty work,” calling the tactic intentional and inflammatory.
A caller from Louisiana criticized Obama’s restraint, saying, “We can’t back you, man, if you don’t say something,” and argued that staying silent in the face of insults aimed at Michelle Obama sends the wrong message. “It would let Black men know that they have a voice,” the caller said.
Hunter pushed back, stressing the reality Obama faced as the nation’s first Black president.
“What should he have said that would have made you feel good,” she asked, noting that Obama governed “with these horrible people in this country” watching his every move.
Morrow said expectations that Obama should publicly confront Trump ignore political reality.
“The first one can’t be the clapback guy,” he said. “He wouldn’t have made it out the primary with that attitude.” Morrow compared Obama’s role to Jackie Robinson, saying, “He had to take the indignities of America to make a way for the rest of us.”
Both Hunter and Morrow also pointed out the double standard. “When it’s the Obamas, it’s like why aren’t they slapping him,” Morrow said. “But when other politicians are friendly with Trump, people celebrate it.”
The hosts agreed the video was not accidental.
“These buzzwords are sent out to get his people charged up,” Morrow said, arguing Trump’s use of racist imagery is a deliberate political strategy rather than an isolated incident.
