    Weekend Entertainment Recap: September 2nd

Rapper and mogul, Kanye West kicked off Labor Day weekend with a series of social media posts aimed at his estranged ex-wife Kim Kardashian. The 45-year-old rapper initially posted that he had a “good meeting with Kim about the schools,” before starting his rant. In addition to calling out his ex-wife, the Donda Academy founder also made sure to single out her ex-boyfriend Pete Davidson.

Kanye called the SNL alum a “pawn” that was sent to antagonize him and continued on to criticize the comedian’s “KNSCP” neck tattoo. However, the rapper did not stop with Kim and Pete. Adidas executive Daniel Cherry and fellow rapper Kid Cudi were also a target of some disdain this weekend.

With Kanye West taking over social media with his ranting, some positivity was needed during the holiday weekend.

Social media personality and entrepreneur Supa Cent alongside her friend Bee Marie donated over 10,000 bottles of water to residents in Jackson, Mississippi. The duo traveled from New Orleans to Jackson with the goal of providing clean water to the community amid the water crisis. Bee Marie added, “we came down here as promised, boots on the ground, to make sure that we did our part,” and Supa Cent thanked her followers for providing them with locations to pass out water.

Fellow social media sensation and entrepreneur Ariana “Ari” Fletcher launched her makeup line, Remedy by Ari, this weekend, and products sold out in hours. Fletcher initially gained attention from her relationships with rappers, but the influencer has since been able to capitalize on her likeness. “Remedy by Ari is my definition of beauty and personal remedy to beat bad days,” says the social media personality.

The line debuted with a selection of lip glosses, an eyeshadow palette and lip liners. Prices for the products start at $14.50 and currently go up to $55. Fans can check out the collection at remedybyari.co.

This weekend also saw multiple Creative Arts Emmy wins for people of color. Although the  Primetime Emmys aren’t until September 12, some awards were given out during two ceremonies held on Saturday and Sunday. Creative Arts Emmys honor artistic achievement in a variety of television program genres and highlight exceptional work in animation, reality and documentary content.

Winners included Former U.S. President Barack Obama, who won his first Emmy for his narration of Netflix’s five-part documentary series, Our Great National Parks. He became the second President to win an Emmy and the first to win a competitive award for a specific television project. Chadwick Boseman posthumously won Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance for his role in the Disney+ animated series, What If? Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, Dr. Dre, Eminem, 50 Cent and Snoop Dogg also took home Emmys for their Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show performance.

The weekend closed out with an outpouring of love and celebration for Beyonce. The award-winning singer and actress celebrated her 41st birthday on September 4. Beyonce has managed to achieve a variety of accomplishments during her 41 years on earth. The Queen of the Beyhive has released 10 albums, including a joint album with her husband Jay-Z. In addition to her expansive discography, Beyonce has made herself a household name and grown her net worth to $500 million.

She has also received multiple awards which consist of more than three dozen BET Awards, over 25 Grammys, more than 10 American Music Awards and an array of others.
