    Weekend Entertainment Recap: September 12th

Over a decade after the release of Ray J and Kim Kardashian’s sex tape, the fallout continues. Ray J took to social media this weekend and attempted to break through the Teflon fortress the Kardashian women have built for themselves in the realm of public opinion.

The singer and mogul claimed that Kris Jenner made the couple refilm their original tape to ensure Kim Kardashian looked her best. Ray J even brought out a projector to display documents and lengthy text conversations between himself and Kanye West. Although this is not the first time the “I Hit It First” singer has called out the Kardashian, it is the first time he was ready to expose them with receipts.

Old feuds seemed to be a common theme this weekend, as 50 Cent took it upon himself to pit Nicki Minaj and Lil Kim against each other. It is no secret that Nicki Minaj and Lil Kim have a shaky past, but 50 Cent inserted himself into the situation after Lil Kim released a remix to Megan Thee Stallion’s song “Plan B.”

The release of the song prompted him to go on social media and claim that Lil Kim was dissing Nicki Minaj. He continued on to insult Lil Kim’s daughter by commenting on her eyes. The “Big Momma Thang” rapper responded to 50 Cent with some derogatory remarks of her own and the father of her child also issued a warning to the “Powerverse” producer. Lil Kim fans did not have much time to hear the track before it was removed only a few hours after the controversial comments were made.

Although fellow Power star, Rotimi, was not involved in a feud, he still managed to get football fans and social media users in an uproar with his new song for the Atlanta Falcons. Atlanta is home to a plethora of artists including T.I., Young Jeezy, Ludacris, 2 Chainz, Lil Baby and more.

Rotimi was born in New Jersey which is over 800 miles away from Atlanta and the decision to cast him as the voice of the Falcons was enough to ruffle feathers. Rapper T.I. commented on the situation by posting a picture of himself, Young Jeezy and Ludacris with the caption “Y’all need some help hit us,” and he tagged the Falcons. Singer 6lack just wanted to know, “y y’all put Rotimi in the line of fire like dat,” in a Tweet made after the song dropped.

While Rotimi and the Falcons released their new song, Disney followed suit by releasing the trailer for the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid. The classic Disney film will have a few new twists in the remake. The production will debut with Halle Bailey starring as Ariel. Bailey is known for being one half of the Grammy-nominated duo Chloe x Halle, and she also made regular appearances on the series, Grownish.

Fans can expect the film to premiere in theaters on May 26, 2023.

Reginae Carter and her new love interest, Armon Warren, were busy making mukbang videos while all the feuding was transpiring. Armon is a YouTuber with over 220,000 subscribers and Reginae receives most of her notoriety from being the daughter of Lil Wayne. The duo has been sparking dating rumors for weeks and Reginae furthered suspicion when she did an interview with football player Cam Newton.

During her interview, Reginae said she was dating someone although she did not provide a name. However, the two recorded a video of them doing a “Lamb Chop Mukbang” this weekend where they were affectionate – even sharing a kiss – and discussed Black love.
