She’s Already Racking up Big Endorsements
Gauff is proving to potentially be a big money-maker off the tennis court. She is set to make at least $1 million in 2019, due to several deals she signed with big companies. That would rank her among the top 10 female earners in the sport.
Her first major endorsement deal came from New Balance last year, who outbid rival Nike while Gauff was still playing on the Juniors circuit. When she signed the multi-year contract with the sportswear company as a 14-year-old, Gauff recognized the level of responsibility that came with the agreement.
“I want to be a role model to as many young athletes as possible,” Gauff said in a statement released by New Balance last year. “Still to this day, I watch my role models on TV and it motivates me to one day be able to play on the biggest stage.”
Gauff also has partnerships with Italian pasta maker Barilla Group and racket designer Head. All three deals are expected to come with performance-based bonuses. Gauff is represented by an agent with TEAM 8, the agency founded by tennis legend Roger Federer and his long-time agent Tony Godsick.
More deals are likely to come in the future for Gauff, but for now, she’s being selective with who she decides to represent in order to focus primarily on tennis.
