Rapper Scarface is recovering from surgery after receiving a kidney from his son.
The news was shared on Instagram by Rap-A-Lot Records founder J Prince.
“Congrats to my brother @brothermob & his son @_iamchrisjordan for giving his father one of his kidneys,” Prince wrote alongside a pic of the Geto Boys legend and son holding hands. “I celebrate with the both of you for being an example of unending love. Chris, a lot of people talk about how much they love your dad, but you have separated yourself from the talkers by your actions. We all salute the both of you and wish you both a speedy recovery ❤️🩹”
His son, Chris Jordan, posted the following message on Instagram following surgery: “What a journey it’s been. Surgery went well my dad is thriving kidney is working great!!!! Thank you all for the prayers. @brothermob love you family.”
Scarface, real name, Brad Jordan, suffered from pneumonia and kidney failure before being diagnosed with Covid-19. He underwent dialysis treatments and required a new kidney.
He tested positive for the virus in March 2020, but two months later, during a livestream with fellow Geto Boys member Willie D, he shared that he was still struggling to recover.
“COVID attacked my lungs first, and then it attacked my kidneys and knocked them out. I got full lung recovery, but my kidneys never came back,” he said, also adding that he thought he was close to death. “I’m still a little weak. I don’t have a lot of strength in my legs yet. I still haven’t got full taste back and sense of smell yet,” he says. “But I am glad to be alive.”
