Sean “Jay-Z” Carter is calling for his rape accuser’s identity to be revealed or for the case to be dismissed entirely.
On Sunday, the Roc Nation founder was added to a lawsuit filed by Jane Doe, who says she was sexually assaulted by Sean “Diddy” Combs and Carter at the same party. Doe says she was 13 years old at the time of the incident, which allegedly transpired at an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty in 2000.
Carter immediately refuted the allegations.
“These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!! Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree? These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case,” he wrote in a statement issued to the public.
“You have made a terrible error in [judgment] thinking that all ‘celebrities’ are the same,” Carter continued. “I’m not from your world. I’m a young man who made it out of the projects of Brooklyn. We don’t play these types of games. We have very strict codes and honor. We protect children, you seem to exploit people for personal gain. Only your network of conspiracy theorists, fake physics, will believe the idiotic claims you have levied against me that, if not for the seriousness surrounding harm to kids, would be laughable.”
Now, his attorney, Alex Spiro, has filed paperwork in Manhattan federal court requesting that the accuser’s identity be revealed.
Spiro contended in court documents that Carter “deserves to know the identity of the person who is effectively accusing him — in sensationalized, publicity-hunting fashion — of criminal conduct, demanding massive financial compensation, and tarnishing a reputation earned over decades.”
As reported by The Associated Press, the motion claims that Doe has not provided sufficient evidence to warrant her anonymity and that her lawsuit contains “vague assertions of potential harm fall far short of the stringent requirements” needed to remain anonymous.
Attorney Tony Buzbee tells the judge that Jay-Z's motion to reject plaintiff anonymity in the rape lawsuit was procedurally improper and the letters are "nothing short of defamation hiding behind the thinnest veneer of litigation privilege." https://t.co/ZwB9KvylRM pic.twitter.com/eEf8YeApG1

“He has never been accused of, let alone engaged in, any sexual misconduct,” Spiro added.
Combs was arrested Sept. 16 and charged in a three count Indictment with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution.
Prosecutors allege that from 2008 to the present, he “threatened and coerced women and others and led a racketeering conspiracy that engaged in sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery, and obstruction of justice, among other crimes.”
After being denied bail for a third time on Nov. 27, Combs will remain behind bars until his trial. At least 32 cases have been filed against Combs since last December. He has consistently proclaimed his innocence and will go to trial in federal court on May 5, 2025.
