Two Comedians, Sinbad and Tracy Morgan, Were Born

What do Tracy Morgan and Sinbad have in common? Outside of being well-known comedians, the two share a birthday! Tracy Morgan and Sinbad were both born on Nov. 10 and have gone on to perform and entertain fans for more than two decades.

David Adkins, better known as Sinbad, was born on November 10, 1956, in Benton Harbor, Michigan to Rev. Dr. Donald and Louise Adkins. His parents would play a major role in Sinbad’s comedic delivery. Adkins grew to more than 6 feet tall early and had dreams of playing for the Harlem Globetrotters.

Although Adkins never got to join the Harlem Globetrotters, he developed a liking for comedy and soon took on the name Sinbad. Sinbad, unlike fellow comedians, decided not to use vulgar language in his stand-up routine when his dad, a pastor, came to see his show. After the performance, he realized he could be funny without cursing.

Sinbad made his television debut in 1983 on the talent show Star Search. His popularity soared and he began making appearances on television series and starring in feature films including Houseguest (1995), First Kid and Jingle All the Way (both 1996). He has also made appearances on The Redd Foxx Show, portrayed the goofy coach (Walter Oakes) on A Different World, and even had his own series, “The Sinbad Show,” that lasted one season on Fox. In 1998, he authored Sinbad’s Guide to Life (Because I Know Everything). The comedian continues to make appearances and perform stand-up specials around the country.

Similar to Sinbad, fellow comedian Tracy Morgan continues to spread his comedic insights to audiences after more than 20 years. Tracy Jamel Morgan was born on November 10, 1968 in the Bronx, New York. He was encouraged to pursue comedy by one of his close friends and soon began earning money from his street performances.

Morgan got his break performing stand-up at venues such as the Uptown Comedy Club, Apollo Comedy Hour and Showtime at the Apollo. He joined the cast of Saturday Night Live and made his movie debut in A Thin Line Between Love and Hate in 1996. He also made appearances and became a fan favorite on hit shows such as Martin and Def Comedy Jam.

The comedian experienced hardship over the course of his career. In 2010, he underwent a successful kidney transplant and in 2014, he survived a traffic collision that resulted in the death of his friend, James McNair. Morgan had to endure months of rehab and in 2015, he made his first television appearance in an interview with Matt Lauer on Today.

He managed to recover from the accident and has since been seen on NBC’s Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning series, “30 Rock,” and the TBS show “The Last OG.” In 2019, he even starred in Paramount’s What Men Want with Taraji P. Henson.
