The murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis police on May 25, 2020, has become a global spark. Floyd has become a symbol for systemic racism throughout the world. Memorials and protests were held from Paris to Manchester, Nairobi to Accra in opposition to police brutality and racism.
The president of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, got a special mention at Floyd’s funeral service, June 9, because of the country’s solidarity with the family. The people of Ghana held a memorial service honoring George Floyd where thousands of mourners paid their respects.
