Popular TikTok food critic Keith Lee says he’s stepping away from his beloved food reviews for the safety of his family.
Lee, who made headlines last month after a series of reviews of Atlanta’s most popular restaurants, was met with heavy backlash. The former pro-MMA fight shared that he has received criticism in the past for giving “nice” reviews.
During visits to nine restaurants, including the Real Milk and Honey, Atlanta Breakfast Club, Lil Baby’s The Seafood Menu, Toast on Lenox and Old Lady Gang. Many of the reviews were positive, but his more critical reviews appeared to overshadow anything complimentary Lee had to say about Atlanta’s eateries.
College Park brunch spot, The Real Milk and Honey responded to Lee’s critique of their complex ordering process. He also slammed the restaurant for offering him a seat ahead of others due to his celebrity profile.
Lee declined the offer.
“I can’t win for losing. I understand everybody gonna have an opinion on the situation. You can disagree with me. You can like what I say. Completely understand. I’m ok with that. But when my safety and my family safety are coming into play, that’s where I draw the line at,” he told his followers on TikTok.
Lee says he will postpone his food tours if the threats against his family continue.
“What can’t happen is when my family’s, or the restaurants’, or anybody’s safety starts coming into play. It’s absolutely overboard. It was so much positive that happened in Atlanta that was shunned by the negative…Imma be 100% transparent and 100% candid. Me and my family will postpone touring if other cities go be like this. Nobody’s safety should be on the line,” he added.
