Marvel star Jonathan Majors has been found guilty of assaulting his former girlfriend Grace Jabbari.
On Monday (Dec. 18), a Manhattan jury found Majors, who has denied all of the allegations against him, guilty of one count of third-degree assault and one count of harassment but acquitted of another count of assault and one aggravated harassment count by a Manhattan jury on Monday.
Jabbari alleged the actor slapped her and threw her into the car after she exited it, grabbed her hand so hard he fractured her middle finger, and also allegedly struck her face with an open hand. Video surveillance footage was played to the jury and released online, showing Majors shoving her into a vehicle. He then fled the scene as Jabbari chased after him.
In court, prosecutors slammed Majors’ “cruel and manipulative pattern of psychological and physical abuse” of his ex-girlfriend.
“What this really boils down to is four simple words: control, domination, manipulation and abuse,” Prosecutor Kelli Galloway told the jury in her closing statement. “[Those are the] tactics used by those who commit domestic violence against partners, against Grace.”
Majors’ defense alleged that Jabbari was the instigator on the night of March 25 and that Jabbari even went to a nightclub after the fight.
In her closing arguments, Chaudhry labeled Jabbari a “liar” in her closing argument, adding that the authorities “bought her white lies, her big lies and all her pretty little lies.”
Prior to his arrest, Majors appeared in two 2023 tentpoles, “Ant-Man 3” and “Creed III,” after starring in the 2019 film “The Last Black Man in San Francisco.” He was dropped from the studio after the verdict was announced. Majors was dropped by his management company, public relations firm and several advertisers after his arrest. Disney also removed his upcoming movie “Magazine Dreams” from its release schedule.
Majors is facing up to a year in prison for the assault conviction. He also faces up to 15 days in jail and a fine of $250 for the harassment conviction.
