Ja’Marr Chase Makes NFL History With Ridiculous TNF Performance

The Bengals took the Ravens to the wire on Thursday night after star receiver Ja’Marr Chase posted another ridiculous career performance consisting of 11 receptions for 264 yards and 3 TDs (67, 70, 5).

After scoring his third TD of the game with under a minute left to pull the Bengals within a point of the Ravens in Baltimore, Chase became only the second player in NFL history to produce a stat line of 250-plus receiving yards and 2 TDs.

The first and only other player to do it? Ja’Marr Chase.

Only two years ago, on January 2nd, 2022, Chase hung an eye-popping 11 reception, 266 yards, 3 TD game on the Kansas City Chiefs. Now he’s done it again, this time to a division rival that he’s victimized before.

In the Bengals’ Week 5 loss to the Ravens in OT, Chase carved up Baltimore’s suspect secondary by snagging 10 receptions for 193 yards and 1 TD. Coupled with his performance on Thursday night, Chase now has 21 catches for 457 total yards in two games against the Ravens this season.

According to CBS Sports, that’s the largest total “recorded by any player against one team in NFL history, eclipsing the previous record of 428 yards, set by the Oakland Raiders‘ Art Powell against the Houston Oilers in 1963.”

    But that’s not all.

Chase was ranked second in receiving yards in 2014, entering the game on Thursday night (717). Now he leads in both receiving yards (981) and receiving touchdowns (10) through 10 games. If he keeps up this pace, he would amass 1,667 yards, which would break his personal record of 1,455 that he set while winning Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2021.

    But wait, there’s more.

Chase also snagged his 11th and 12th TD reception of 60+ yards, which is the most by any player in NFL history under the age of 25.

Those stats make fantasy football owners giddy but they frustrate Ja’Marr because both games resulted in losses to Baltimore.

“I would never in a million years expect me to play this well and he [Joe Burrow] play this well and still have a record like this,” said a disappointed Chase after the game.

The Ravens improved to 7-3 while the Bengals dropped to 4-6.

And while Cincy didn’t get the win, fans got another opportunity to witness the greatness of two of the Bengals’ biggest stars in Chase and Burrow.
