On what would’ve been Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s 95th birthday, former president, unconscientious draft dodger, slumlord, bankruptcy expert and insurrectionist Donald J. Trump won the 2024 Iowa caucus.
This was the first caucus in a series of many to come for a political party that bears bone fractures from patting itself so hard on the back about being the party to end slavery but also being the party that does not want to learn about it. If Trump winning 51% of the vote is any indication, he will likely square up against sleepy Joe, whose ‘at least I’m not Trump’ marketing campaign may not prove as successful this year as it did in 2020. Florida governor Ronald DeSantis pulled a slow 21% because, as racist as he is, he just couldn’t out-racist Herr Trump, who built his platform on reforming America by kicking out or suppressing anything that was not American, specifically white American.
Trump won the Iowa Caucus with about half of 14% of registered republicans. He got a total of 56,280 votes.

We’re talking about 56,280 people here. I’ve had tweets with more likes. So maybe calm down, media.
As the election of the Republican candidates gains steam, so does the racism that fuels the party.
Trump’s supporters embrace a racism that is so thinly veiled that only those who espouse it are dumb enough to deny its existence, and they clearly make up a majority of the party voters. Magats are quick to refute their racism while also violently throwing out Black people for merely attending their rallies. The main concern for voters from Iowa was immigration. If you’ve ever been to Iowa, you would know that it is not known for its diverse population, not to mention, geographically—the closest country is Canada—which also requires a lengthy drive through the warm and welcoming artic terrain that is Minnesota, and it’s unlikely that Drake and the rest of the cast of Degrassi will be taking up residence there. Living in a state known more for its agriculture than its culture and being in the top 10 whitest states in the country, Iowans should probably worry more about how climate change and the environment will affect their farm yields in the near and distant future, but a family moving to the United States for a better life, in a country that once promoted the idea, is somehow their most pressing issue.
After coming in dead last in this caucus, Indian-American Vivek Ramaswamy pulled out of the race because he finally learned the hard way that he is far too Brown to still be considered part of the model minority and after his abysmal loss, his sentiments were “there’s no path for me to be the next president absent things that we don’t want to see happen in this country.” Going into that same caucus, he may have felt a bit more hopeful, remarking, “the idea that conservatives are motivated by racism is simply outdated, and I think the people of Iowa agree with me.” To complain about the racism that you swore didn’t exist a few days ago is the loud utterance of an equivocator falling on his own sword. “They think he’s Muslim, so it’s his nationality more than anything,” or even a voter asking why he even came to this country if there were so many problems, were some of the reasons voters had for not voting for him. Attempting to appeal to a voter base that does not understand that you must be born in the United States to become president, even though this is the same Obama birther crowd, is a shining example of why lack of education absolutely benefits conservatives being able to maintain political control. They do not want an informed voter base; they just want the votes.
Vivek is not smart; he is greedy and any attempt to appeal to an audience that has been Pavlovianly trained to hate the very thing that he is never going to do well. The only people of color who are in positions of power are there because a white person was not available for the job. During the 2022 midterms, there were 81 Black Republican candidates and only four, including two incumbents, won the general election. Racist white people are not interested in putting Black people in positions of power and authority over themselves. Candace Owens’ job as a propagandist is included in this observation because the only time a Black woman will ever have credibility to them—and the most credibility at that—is in a crowd full of angry racist white people, rubbing their backs while telling them that they are not angry racist white people.
🚨🚨BREAKING: Vivek Ramaswamy has just officially dropped out of the race after finishing the GOP Iowa caucus in a distant 4th place in single digits.

White Republican lawmakers never miss the opportunity to showcase their love for MLK one day in January while reversing everything he stood for the other 364 days a year. Immigration being Iowans’ most pressing concern in a state that is about 90% white, is really a nice way of saying racism is their main concern.
If a man who played a part in treason for the same country he was sworn in to protect and is a rapist is in the top spot for the Republican party nominee because his slogan and platform are a racist dog whistle, then it’s time for America to admit that it doesn’t have an immigration problem; it has a race problem.
