Comedian Kevin Hart is diversifying his talent offerings by adding restaurateur to his portfolio. Hart entered the fast food industry by creating the innovative vegan restaurant, Hart House. Foodies can visit the 100% plant-based establishment in Los Angeles and more locations are expected to open soon.
The restaurant takes a “we cook with Hart” stance and offers patrons food with a promise of no cholesterol, antibiotics, hormones, artificial colors, preservatives, corn syrup and trans fat. Hart said, “I founded Hart House to create a good experience that combines the joy of coming together over food, with the power of purpose.”
Although Hart is the founder of the restaurant, Andy Hooper will serve as the CEO. Hooper has had previous experience working with the Washington D.C.-based pizza chain &pizza. Chef Mike Salem will be the Head of Culinary Innovation for the restaurant, a role he once held with Burger King. When reflecting on Hart House, Hooper stated “our menu is the future of the industry; Hart House is revolutionizing quick service restaurants now and delivering a ground-breaking culinary experience that shatters the expectations of what plant-based food can be.”
Hart House prides itself on hand-crafting the meals served to customers. The restaurant’s website notes that “our ingredients are plant-based and REAL,” and added, “we prepare our signature menu by hand to deliver crave-worthy, better-for-you food that you will love!” Menu items include sandwiches, salads, nuggets, fries, tater tots and milkshakes. Aside from providing healthy fast-food alternatives, the restaurant is also committed to improving the lives of employees and community members. Hart House partnered with Inner-City Arts to donate 10% of all proceeds from their grand opening!
The restaurant has already had celebrity patrons. Rapper Lil Baby stopped by the Hart House to support the comedian during the soft launch of the restaurant. Lil Baby posted a video of his meal which featured tater tots, two sandwiches and a drink. Customers can check out the Los Angeles location from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily and expect to see more Hart House locations opening soon.
