Elkanah A. Odembo Jr. pulled into the driveway of his father’s home followed by police, who said he had a broken brake light. The Chesterfield Country, Va. 19-year-old questioned the stop and was asked to exit his vehicle. When he questioned the officer about having to get out, he was pulled from the car and tasered.
The initial altercation was captured on a video taken by his girlfriend who was in the passenger’s seat. She also posted about the incident on Twitter.
Odembo was charged yesterday with assault on a law enforcement officer, defective equipment and three counts of obstruction of justice with force after what the Chesterfield County Police Department described as a violent event.
You can watch for yourself:
A cop follows us into my boyfriends driveway and claims it is because we have a brake light out. The cop calls backup immediately. He proceeds to viciously pull him out of the car for absolutely no reason. I was forced to sit in the car until another cop came and detained me.. pic.twitter.com/g15FlSt6YB
