Call to Investigate Bad Bunny’s Halftime Show Was Based on Hate, Not Law

Congressman Fine led the faux-outrage against Bad Bunny.

Bad Bunny’s Halftime Show entertained almost 130 million people watching it on TV across the country, making them dance, sing and cry.

But to some, especially those who either don’t speak Spanish or are just racist, like GOP Florida Congressman Randy Fine, the show was “disgusting.”

Afterward, Fine called on the FCC to investigate the lyrics.

“Bad Bunny’s disgusting halftime show was illegal,” wrote Fine in a post on X. “Had he said these lyrics — and all of the other disgusting and pornographic filth in English on live TV, the broadcast would have been pulled down and the fines would have been enormous. Puerto Ricans are Americans and we all live by the same rules.”

He ended his post with “Lock them up,” which is the rallying call used by Tr**p to incite anger.

But at least he got the “Puerto Ricans are Americans” part right.

Well a week later, the FCC rendered its ruling and announced, as expected, that Bad Bunny did not violate any decency regulations.

According to the New York Post, the FCC looked at his performance of three songs, Tití Me Preguntó, Monaco and Safaera but realized that all profane lyrics had been scrubbed from the Super Bowl Halftime Show performance.

“If they hadn’t been censored, the smutty lyrics could have violated FCC rules banning profanity and obscenity during primetime hours,” wrote the Post, which noted that it spoke with someone with direct knowledge of the matter.

The Post also noted that the FCC won’t pursue the issue any more “barring further evidence.”

Now, while everyone with a shred of decency knew Bad Bunny didn’t violate any decency laws, even in Spanish, it’s important to understand the politics and ignorance shrouding the faux-outrage over the show.

This call for an investigation was initiated by Congressman Fine, a true racist, Islamophobe and ardent Tr**p supporter who has used fear tactics involving threats of Sharia Law, called for a Muslim travel ban, claimed that “Democrats can’t win elections if ONLY Americans VOTE,” wrote “Palestinian is a synonym for evil” and posted this vile tweet on Sunday.
