Black Men Who Dislike Kamala Are Mirroring Racists

“Joe and the Hoe Gotta Go!” t-shirts are available for sale on a website with the word patriot in the title. The cheap-looking website is also home to other gems of shirts that feature guns and a picture of former President Donald Trump’s fist in the air after his assassination attempt.

There are no shirts discussing his ties to a child molester, his admitting to sexual assault, his ex-wife’s abuse claims, or his multiple failed marriages.  Though he is almost 20 years her senior, only one of Trump’s marriages has lasted longer than Kamala’s marriage to her husband, Doug Emhoff, with whom she just celebrated her 10-year anniversary. Many racists and Black men both share in the sentiment that she is a DEI hire, while those Black men completely ignore the fact that calling her a DEI hire and underqualified is part of the same rhetoric used against them. DEI claims never to question white men in positions of power.

The claim wholly accepts that every white man in power has gained his position solely based on merit while every non-white man was somehow given an opportunity they did not deserve, or even worse, took that opportunity from a more deserving white person (man).

You slept with your boss to bypass women who were more qualified than you. No little girl should look to you as an example. https://t.co/bZM1980l6U

When it comes to political power, credentials matter, and yet they don’t. Somehow, a man who has filed for bankruptcy a half-dozen times is the savior for the economy. Yet, the party of staunch Kamala has a Juris Doctorate, as well as degrees in political science and economics. Trump only attained a Bachelor of Science in economics, yet only her qualifications are ever questioned.

The rapper Plies recently called out Black men on an Instagram post about their quickness to condemn Harris and make demands of her without making those same demands or queries of Trump and their questions of why she has yet to provide results as the vice president, with limited power.

Kamala’s heritage, like Obama’s, has come into question, whether she is Black enough, or whether she is Black at all, as if the son of someone whose parent happened to be at a KKK rally is such a pristine pedigree. But when Black men are vocal about their disdain for Kamala locking Black men up, they seem to forget the dangers that the KKK has caused Black people for centuries in favor of supporting Trump. They seem to also forget the full-page ad that Trump paid for, calling for the death of the Central Park Five. Even though the Central Park Five were later exonerated and Trump still refused to apologize.

White and Black people have both questioned her Blackness and her parents’ status as immigrants, as if two of Trump’s three wives were not immigrants, as well.

There is no fathomable way as a Black person that voting for the same person who is championed by white supremacists ever makes sense, but many Black men use the same principles of condemnation and hypocrisy to condemn Kamala in order to support Trump. She is more educated than he is and has had a much longer actual career in politics; while he has been a member of the Democrat, Republican and Reform Party (where he initially campaigned for the presidency before dropping out)—he never held political office—yet Harris has been Attorney General and a senator for the state of California.

I don't care about the CNN interview. Kamala Harris has already proven she is qualified to be President of the United States. And Donald Trump — a convicted felon/adjudicated rapist/business fraudster — has already proven time and time again how utterly unfit for office he is.

Her sexual history has been questioned, while an actual rapist is supported by the Christian right.

Her prosecution record has been exaggerated (even though she created diversion programs to keep people from going to jail) but the person who would not even rent to Black people gets celebrated by those same Black men who condemn her. Her intelligence has been insulted much more than the man who looked at the sun during a solar eclipse. Even her laugh has been scrutinized in favor of a despotic serpent with a permanent scowl.

Donald Trump is not a DEI hire; he is a rich man with poor morals.

Kamala Harris is not a DEI hire, she is someone who had to work twice as hard as the other and is still considered to be the less qualified, even with more qualifications.
