The Biden-Harris 2024 campaign appointed Jasmine Harris as the Director of Black Media.
Her appointment comes amid growing concerns about the growing distance between the administration and Black voters, who have grown disillusioned by the perceived lack of proactivity when it comes to issues affecting the community.
Harris, who previously held a similar role for Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, will spearhead the campaign’s efforts to engage and mobilize Black communities.
“There’s no one better equipped to continue to build on that work and communicate the stakes of this election directly to Black voters across the country,” Biden said of Harris.
“Black reporters and outlets must always have a seat at the table as it relates to our nation’s political leadership, especially when the stakes are as high as they are this election,” Harris maintained.

According to The Hill, a November poll from The New York Times and Siena College found that 22% of Black voters in six battleground states said they would support former President Donald Trump in next year’s election. The staggering statistic is the highest percentage a Republican presidential candidate has seen among Black voters in 50 years.
The Roper Center reports that just 63% of Black voters support Biden, a steep reduction from the 87% he held in 2020. Twenty percent of Hispanic and Black voters and 21% of young voters have shared their plans to vote for a third-party candidate, choosing to bypass Biden or Trump.
It’s not all doom and gloom for the Biden-Harris campaign. Biden comfortably won South Carolina’s Democratic primary.
“Now in 2024, the people of South Carolina have spoken again and I have no doubt that you have set us on the path to winning the presidency again – and making Donald Trump a loser – again,” Biden said in a statement.
