Biden Faces Criticism for Calling LL Cool J ‘Boy’

President Joe Biden is facing heavy backlash this morning after he slipped up by calling legendary rapper LL Cool J “boy” during the Congressional Black Caucus’ Phoenix Awards Saturday night.

LL Cool J, real name James Todd Smith, was present to receive the Phoenix Award for musical contributions. However, while introducing the rapper, Biden messes up the proper pronunciation of Smith’s rap title.

“Two of the great artists of our time representing the groundbreaking legacy of hip hop in America , LL Jay Cool J, uhhh,” Biden said as the crowd laughed on.

Who is LL J COOL J?

I know LL Cool J. It stands for “Ladies Love Cool J”.

Joe is an idiot and a racist.

Why would he call a 55-year old man a “boy” other than racism? pic.twitter.com/Wu7823Hnpd

But the Black community found nothing humorous about Biden’s flub.

Historically, white people referred to Black men as boys to suggest they were beneath them and inferior beings to white people.

On Monday morning’s video of The Breakfast Club, Charlamagne Tha God slammed the president, dubbing him the “Donkey of the Day.”

“‘Boy’ is a white racist word. Joe Biden knows this. That’s why he corrected himself, but I’m gonna tell you what I found egregious. The fact that Joe Biden got LL Cool J’s name wrong to begin with,” said Charlamagne.

He continued, “He fully understands the word ‘boy’ in a racial context around a white man referring to a Black man as ‘boy. A lot of people are upset that Joe Biden referred to LL Cool J as a ‘boy.’ As you can hear he corrected himself on his spo. You know why Joe Biden corrected himself — because he’s 137 years old.”

The White House has not released a statement addressing the incident.

Let this sink in, Biden called James Smith, known professionally as LL Cool J, “Boy” while speaking at the Congressional Black Caucus awards dinner on Saturday in DC. Seems like the real Joe Biden showed up 🤬 pic.twitter.com/QneWyG26I8

At the Congressional Black Caucus conference this weekend, @JoeBiden called LL Cool J the wrong name. Then this racist bigot white supremacist and fascist called LL a “BOY!” Not one word from the liberal media, @TheRevAl, @NAACP, Democrat Party, or @TheBlackCaucus. Now just… pic.twitter.com/lPFVJe2wqJ

Another thing about Biden saying "You ain't Black if you don’t vote for me” that bothers me is how he used the phrase "ain't" during his insult.

He literally used poor grammar in a mocking way to insult a Black man and then turned around and called a Black man "boy." https://t.co/i3eFZbh7ct
