BET is not a Black-owned network, but Variety recently reported that Tyler Perry is in talks with Paramount to buy the majority stake in BET. His stake would include BET, VH1, BET Studios and BET+. Perry is not the only Black businessman to throw his hat into the ring. A spokesperson for Byron Allen stated that the Allen Media Group founder is “interested in buying BET, and he will be pursuing the acquisition of the network.” REVOLT owner, Diddy, has also expressed his interest.
