Tori Bowie’s death was a shock to all.

While conducting a welfare check on Bowie at her Florida home on May 2nd, police found the U.S. sprinter and Olympic Gold Medalist dead. Now we are learning more about her passing.

According to an autopsy report, Bowie died due to pregnancy complications. The report from the Orange County (Florida) Medical Examiner’s Office stated that Bowie was approximately eight months pregnant and in active labor at the time of her death. Possible complications, according to medical officials, included respiratory distress and eclampsia, which occurs when a person develops seizures following a sudden spike in high blood pressure during pregnancy.

Devastated to hear the news that U.S. sprinter Tori Bowie has passed away.

Bowie won Olympic Gold, Silver and Bronze medals and was a 2x World title holder. We've spoken with her many times and can say she was an even better & nicer person. Bowie was only 32. RIP Tori Bowie ???????????? pic.twitter.com/KUQHCun7xU

Bowie won a silver medal in the 100m, bronze in the 200m and a gold as the anchor leg in the women’s 4x100m relay. The pride of Mississippi was also a 2x World Champion.

The medical examiner also determined that Bowie, 32, passed due to natural causes.

More absolutely heartbreaking news about someone who was taken from us way too soon. RIP Tori.
