Last week, Robert Morris University (RMU) named Dr. Ron Moses as its new Vice President and Director of Athletics.

Moses arrives at RMU after working at Old Dominion University since 2019, most recently serving as the Deputy Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Advancement, Revenue Growth, and Competitive Strategy, responsible for directing NIL strategy, revenue generation, academic success and corporate partnerships.

“We are excited to welcome Dr. Ron Moses to the RMU family,” said University President Dr. Michelle L. Patrick in a statement. “His vision for student-athlete excellence, paired with a track record of strategic growth, academic success, and athletic leadership, makes him uniquely qualified to lead RMU Athletics into the future. Ron is a proven community builder, and I am confident he will rally our campus, our alumni, and our community to support and celebrate our student-athletes.”

Moses brings a wealth of experience, leadership, education and success to RDU.

The proud veteran of the U.S. Army and Army National Guard got his bachelor’s in education from the University of Georgia and went on to earn a master’s degree in Sports Administration from Western Kentucky University, a master’s degree in Leadership and Human Resource Development from Louisiana State University, and a Ph.D. in Counseling and Student Development from Kansas State University.

Moses held academic and administrative positions at the University of Missouri, Georgia State University, the University of South Florida, and Kansas State University prior to arriving at Old Dominion.

Now he’ll be in charge of Colonials athletics, which competes in the Horizon League in 17 NCAA DI sports.

“Robert Morris University is a place where excellence and opportunity meet,” said Moses. “I’m honored by the trust President Patrick and the hiring committee have placed in me, and grateful to everyone across campus who made this process so welcoming. My commitment is clear: we will build a program where student-athletes graduate, compete for championships, and represent RMU with pride. We want RMU Athletics to be a rallying point for our campus, our alumni, Moon Township, and the entire Pittsburgh region. Building that legacy takes all of us. To the RMU community – thank you in advance for your support. Let’s get to work.”
