Put Your Listening Ears on Because Bet+ Has a Story to Tell With a New Anthology Series

The Hub Entertainment Watch list: I Got A Story To Tell

For fans of psychological thrillers and suspense, BET+ has a new series that will give you what you are looking for. The series “I Got A Story To Tell” debuted in the last quarter of 2022 with six episodes. Viewers are taken on a journey through six different stories “where love, lust and terror cross paths.”

Marcus Smoot and Deshon Hardy serve as executive producers of the series, and viewers get to see a variety of familiar faces throughout the various episodes. Episodes have cast members including Pooch Hall, Reginae Carter, Apryl Jones, Jess Hilarious and Yung Joc. Most of the episodes fall in the 40 to 50-minute runtime length, but the series concludes with an 88-minute finale.

Episode one of the series, “Before I Let Go,” explores infidelity and what happens when another party enters a relationship. A woman eager to save her marriage makes a last-ditch attempt to please her husband by allowing a third party to join them. However, things take a dark turn when the doting wife suspects that the “randomly-selected” third person her husband picked may have already been a pre-existing option.

The following episode, “The Gas Station Pill,” tells a twisted story at the intersection of lust, low self-esteem and betrayal. Dating comes easier for some than it does for others and after multiple rejections, a man goes down a dangerous path of body modification. The man is introduced to a gas station pill with unique properties, allowing him to transform physically, but like most medications, there are side effects associated with consumption.

As the season progresses, the episodes continue to find new ways to grab the audience’s attention and one of the best ways to do so is with a good plot twist. Episode three, “I’m So Fateful,” involves death, deception and a twisted “love triangle.” A man loses his fiancée in a tragic car accident just days before their wedding, and her death reveals a trail of secrets that will leave viewers surprised.

Episode four, “Dear Mama,” may even be a bit much for the proudest of mama’s boys. The episode takes a look at the outcome of a man’s unhealthy childhood obsession with his mother. Hidden family secrets are revealed during a surprise Mother’s Day after a young woman starts to question the extremely close relationship her boyfriend has with his mother. The unusual mother-son bond is enough to make anyone wonder what is the real nature of this relationship.

By the fifth episode, viewers are likely to be thinking – what is going to happen next? Episode five, “If You Only Knew,” shows what happens when one takes a joke too far. It tells the story of a social media influencer whose claim to fame stems from pranking her husband for clickbait. However, the joke subsides when suspicions of infidelity and the betrayal of a best friend arise.

The series concludes with episode six, “The Following Of Angela Whitaker.” This is the longest episode featured and takes viewers on a journey of navigating grief and loss. A shocking loss pushes a woman to explore the supernatural while accompanying a friend on a ghost-hunting mission. The mission seems to stick with the woman as she is followed home by the demonic spirit of a little girl.
