Hollywood actress Tiffany Haddish may have reached a deal in the sexual abuse case against her.
On Monday, Radar Online reported that Haddish “worked out the deal privately” with her accusers. However, the court documents obtained by the outlet, part of the agreement, is that the details will “block the public from seeing the original complaint.”
In an eight-page complaint filed Aug. 27 in Los Angeles Superior Court, Haddish and fellow comedian Aries Spears were accused of grooming the accuser and her brother. At the time, Jane Doe says she was 14 years old and John Doe, her brother, was seven.
“The Plaintiffs were both minors and were incapable of consenting to participate in sexually graphic videos distributed and published via Funny or Die’s platform,” the suit proclaims. “There was no parent or guardian present.” The lawsuit added that Haddish “aided, abetted and watched Spears sexually molest a child.”
Following the backlash, Haddish appeared to take responsibility for her part in the tasteless 2014 sketch titled “Through a Pedophile’s Eyes.” On Instagram, Haddish wrote, “clearly, while this sketch was intended to be comedic, it wasn’t funny at all – and I deeply regret having agreed to act in it.”
However, Spears continued to discredit the claims.
“Listen, this is an extortion case,” he said on his Spears and Steinberg podcast. “This is a shakedown and I didn’t need my lawyer to tell me this to say this but I’m gonna echo her words: ‘We won’t be shaken down.’ And believe me, it’s bothering me to not talk about the skit. Because Andy and I have been talking about it and there’s some very valid things I feel like I have to say or want to say but just can’t at this time.”
