Symone Sanders, a senior adviser and chief spokesperson for Vice President Harris, is calling time on her stint at the White House.
The announcement comes on the heels of reports of an “abusive environment” in the Harris office. She will leave her position at the end of the year. Sanders previously served as a senior adviser for Joe Biden’s presidential campaign.
“Symone has served honorably for three years. The President and Vice President are grateful for Symone’s service and advocacy for this Administration. She is a valued member of the White House and a team player — she will be missed,” a Harris spokesperson told CNN.
Last month, Harris’s communications chief Ashley Etienne, announced that she would leave at the end of the year and Peter Velz, director of press operations, and Vince Evans, deputy director of the Office of Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs in the vice president’s office.
Sanders penned a letter to her colleagues where she thanked Harris chief of staff Tina Flournoy.
“I’m so grateful to the VP for her vote of confidence from the very beginning and the opportunity to see what can be unburdened by what has been,” the letter obtained by the news outlet. “I’m grateful for Tina and her leadership and her confidence as well. Every day, I arrived to the White House complex knowing our work made a tangible difference for Americans. I am immensely grateful and will miss working for her and with all of you.”
It has been noted that Sanders’ resignation comes moments after Stacey Abrams announced her run for Georgia governor.
