    Every day brings new content to Netflix’s vast library of movies and TV shows available to stream.

    Here are five Black movies and TV shows coming to Netflix in the United States throughout April 2021.

    Concrete Cowboy

    Starring Golden Globe-winning actor Idris Elba and “Stranger Things” star Caleb McLaughlin, “Concrete Cowboy” tells the story of Black horse-riding culture in the urban center of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. “Concrete Cowboy” is based on the 2013 novel “Ghetto Cowboy” by Greg Neri, which was inspired by real-life Black urban cowboys in Philadelphia. The film was added to Netflix on April 2nd.

    Coded Bias

    “Coded Bias” is a documentary that investigates how facial recognition technology and AI discriminates against Black and brown people. The documentary was produced after M.I.T. Media Lab researcher Joy Buolamwini discovered flaws in facial recognition technology. “Coded Bias” was added to Netflix on April 5th.

    Dad Stop Embarrassing Me! is a sitcom starring Jamie Foxx as a single dad adjusting to fatherhood after his teenage daughter moves in with him. The first season of Dad Stop Embarrassing Me! premieres on Netflix on April 14.

    Dark City Beneath the Beat

    “Dark City Beneath the Beat” is a 2020 music documentary that reimagines the narrative, origin, and legacy of Baltimore’s club music and dance scene. The film was directed by TT The Artist and produced by “Insecure” creator Issa Rae. “Dark City Beneath the Beat” hits Netflix on April 15th.

    Synchronic

    “Synchronic” is a 2020 film sci-fi horror film featuring “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” star Anthony Mackie and Jamie Dornan as two New Orleans paramedics who encounter bizarre and horrific deaths caused by a new designer drug. “Synchronic” hits Netflix on April 16th.
