    Kirk’s #GoVeggies 31-Day Challenge, Day 12: It’s Skin Deep!

I’ve had several clients with skin conditions, ranging from eczema to plaque psoriasis.  Many had been going back and forth to the dermatologist and got minimal to no relief from prescription medication.

Since I went vegan in 1989, I’ve refused to believe anyone with a skin condition has “bad” skin. Part of the skin’s function is to be a gateway for the release of internal waste and toxins. That said, the question is: What are we putting into our bodies that could cause abuse to the skin when it is released?

Everything put in the body is used, stored or eliminated, which means that the body acts on everything that enters it. The act of eliminating waste and toxicity through the skin, can pose a ton of problems, especially when we put things in the body that we think are good for us, but are really toxic.

For all humans, processed foods and animal products pose some type of an elimination problem because we’re not designed to eat or digest them. Many skin diseases are the manifestation of waste elimination that we’re not identifying as such.

Therefore, when you have skin issues, your first line of defense should be to scrutinize your diet and make modifications. Many of my clients do very well by introducing more green, leafy veggies into the body and crowding out the processed foods and meat products.

Many of the problems I’ve seen are due to excess dairy consumption. I’ve had clients give up cheese, eat more fruits and salad and they got immediate skin relief. As always, nature has provided the solution.
