He is Persistent
While in high school, Smith applied for an internship at Bell Labs. The internship was intended for college students only. But Smith called Bell Labs every day to get into the program. When an M.I.T. student didn’t show up, Smith got the position and that summer he developed a reliability test for semiconductors.
