4. The Country is Not Poor
The GDP of The Congo as of 2016 was $35 billion. The major exports are copper, cobalt, diamonds and crude petroleum. Tin, tantalum, tungsten, gold, and diamonds are also exports. The major imports are packaged medicine, glass bottles, refined petroleum, human and animal blood, and iron structures. The top ten DRC trading partners in order of size are China, Zambia, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Belgium, Finland, Italy, Germany, Taiwan, and Egypt. Congo has regularly experienced net trade deficits.
